About Nojus
Nojus has been selling seeds to Baltic gardeners for over two decades. The flagship store at Nojus.lt carries vegetable seeds, flower seeds, herb seeds, bulbs, onion sets, strawberry plants, lawn seed, and fertilisers - a broad seasonal catalogue serving home gardeners and allotment growers across the region.
The business is deeply seasonal. Gardeners buy seeds at specific times for specific planting windows. A customer searching for "early potato seeds" in February is telling you something precise about what they intend to plant and when. Understanding when customers start searching - before peak season - is a genuine competitive advantage in a catalogue-driven business like this.
The Challenge
Poor search UX on default PrestaShop
Default PrestaShop search returned text-only, poorly ranked results. For customers who already know the seed variety or plant they want, a flat text list creates friction at the exact moment they're most ready to buy. There was no visual product card, no smart autocomplete, and no way to surface the right product first.
No visibility into seasonal demand
The most strategically painful gap was the absence of analytics. In a seasonal business, knowing that customers start searching for "early potato seeds" in February - weeks before Nojus has them in stock - is valuable buying intelligence. Knowing which seed varieties are trending before season peaks lets the team make procurement decisions ahead of demand, not in reaction to it. Under default PrestaShop search, none of this was visible. The data existed in search behaviour; there was simply no way to read it.
The Solution
Analytics: seasonal demand intelligence
The analytics dashboard became the most strategically important capability BRADsearch delivered. It reveals:
- Which products customers search for before they're in stock - an early-warning system for the buying team
- Which seed varieties and plant types are generating increasing search demand week-on-week
- Which searches return zero results - products not yet in the catalogue that customers are actively requesting
- How customers actually refer to products: regional naming conventions, colloquial terms, and variety names that differ from the official catalogue names
Merchandising: revenue-driven results
Seasonal products coming into peak demand are ranked higher in results. High-margin products are promoted within relevant result sets. Out-of-stock products are deprioritised - a buyer searching for a variety that's sold out sees what they can actually buy, ranked first. These controls are managed directly, without developer involvement.
Visual search UI
Product card autocomplete with imagery replaced the text-only default. For a catalogue where visual identity matters - shoppers want to see the flower or vegetable before buying - this meaningfully improves search-to-click conversion. A customer searching for "sunflower" sees the variety, the image, and the price before they've even hit enter.
The Outcome
Most case studies focus on conversion rate improvements. Nojus shows a different ROI - the strategic value of knowing what your customers want before they can buy it. In a seasonal, catalogue-driven business, seeing search demand trends weeks before peak selling windows compounds over time into a genuine competitive advantage.
Expanded across all three Baltic markets
BRADsearch started at Nojus.lt. The results - particularly the strategic value of seasonal demand analytics - made the case for expansion straightforward. Nojus.lv and Nojus.ee are now running the same search layer, with market-specific analytics for each country.
Seasonal demand visible before products are in stock
Analytics now show when customers in each Baltic market start searching for specific seasonal products. The team sees demand building in real time, weeks before the peak selling window. This intelligence feeds directly into procurement and stock decisions.
New product opportunities continuously identified
Zero-result searches for products not currently in the catalogue surface directly in the analytics dashboard. Each is a confirmed customer request - a data-backed case for adding a variety or product type that buyers are already looking for.
Cross-market intelligence
Different seasonal timing and consumer preferences per country are now visible and comparable across all three markets simultaneously. What Lithuanian gardeners search for in March, Latvian and Estonian gardeners may search for in April. That distinction, visible at the market level, is the kind of operational intelligence that was simply unavailable before.
